Carnival is just around the corner and I can't help but reminisce! Ten years ago, I was dancing on stage with the Prinzengarde of the KG Gelsenkirchener Narrenzunft - and yes, you're right, the famous Cologne band BRINGS is standing next to me!

Our team trip to Barcelona was simply magic! 🌟 We were enchanted by the breathtaking Sagrada Familia. 🏰 Between productive Senlac meetings in the mountains and on the beautiful beach in Castelldefels, we laughed together and exchanged ideas about the future. 🌊🏞️ A delicious lunch with the Senlac family strengthened us and brought us closer together 🤝
A highlight was definitely our boat trip in the Parc de la Ciutadella, accompanied by the wonderful sounds of the park musician. 🚤🎶 These moments not only create shared memories, but also a strong team spirit.
Barcelona, you have inspired us and we definitely come back! 💙
The origin of Halloween lies with the Celts! On 31 October in pre-Christian times, the Celts began to celebrate a festival called Samhain. According to belief, on this night there is contact with the underworld.
To scare off the evil spirits, people dressed up in scary costumes and haunted the night. Small gifts were placed in front of the houses to please the spirits and keep them from committing misdeeds.
People also believed that a hollowed out turnip with a burning piece of coal in it could drive away the evil spirits.
Today's big party horror event didn't develop until Irish immigrants brought the custom to the U.S. in the 19th century. There, the turnip was then exchanged for the pumpkin, which is known all over the world.
It wasn't until the 1990s that the Halloween tradition found its way to other European countries, like Germany which has since enjoyed ever-increasing popularity. Today, we go from house to house dressed up in scary costumes to ask for "trick or treat".

22 April 2023 is "Earth Day". A day to remind us all of how important it is to take care of and protect our planet. At SENLAC, we are also committed to sustainable travel and would like to show you how we do it.
One of our most important goals is to reduce our CO2 emissions. That's why we book the Thames Clippers with their hybrid engines for our London trips. On our coach trips we make sure that they are as full as possible. If a bus is only half full, we form cooperations with other classes. This not only saves costs, but also emissions.
We also make our students aware of sustainability. Therefore, before every trip, we point out to take reusable drinking bottles and lunch boxes to reduce the consumption of disposable plastic. In addition, we have greatly reduced our paper consumption in recent years by making city maps and information materials available online as PDFs.
Each and every one of us can help to protect the environment. We hope we have been able to inspire you and look forward to making our trips even more sustainable with your help.
